Refurbishment of Aluminum Immersion Holding Furnace for Leading Automotive Parts Supplier

Lindberg/MPH announced the refurbishment of an electric immersion aluminum holding furnace for a leader in the automotive parts industry to achieve optimal performance of their furnace after years of use. The modifications to the electric immersion furnace increased the furnace’s aluminum holding capacity. This furnace is used to maintain aluminum at the required temperature for die casting. Aftermarket services and maintenance are critical in minimizing downtime, maximizing production and extending the life of equipment.

The refurbishment of the industrial furnace included adding a fill well and hinged insulating fill well cover with remote open and close operation. The existing steel shell was modified to accept a side-mounted fill well and the existing refractory lining was replaced. A cast fill well was added to the furnace shell using a castable virtually inert to aluminum oxide formation. The new hinged fill well cover installed utilized smooth air-over-oil operation. This holding furnace utilizes Lindberg/MPH patented board lining and high efficiency immersion tubes/heaters.

“At Lindberg/MPH we take pride in our aftermarket services. With over 100 years in the furnace business our goal has always been to build lasting relationships with our customers and work with them to keep their equipment performing to the level they have grown to expect from a Lindberg/MPH furnace.” Andrew Paul, Sales Representative

Unique features of aluminum holding furnaces include:
• Rugged steel plate furnace construction
• Fill well cover with pivot axle rod connection that allows the cover to close against an uneven surface due to minor metal spill buildup
• Quick release pin for easy removal of fill well cover for maintenance
• Side mounted fill well
• Lindberg/MPH patented board lining
• Castable inert to aluminum oxide formation
• Drain tap
